What wear layer do I need for luxury vinyl plank?
12 mil for bedrooms and low traffic, 20 mil for pets, children and entry halls. Total plank thickness is not the number that matters, and a thick plank with a thin wear layer scratches within a year.
Can laminate go in a bathroom?
No. The fibreboard core swells permanently once water reaches it, and swollen laminate can only be replaced, not dried or repaired. Use sheet vinyl, waterproof LVP or tile instead.
Why does my tile quote include floor preparation?
Because tile cracks on an uneven subfloor, and large format needs flatter than most people expect. A quote without preparation is not cheaper, it is incomplete, and the cost arrives later as failed grout and lifted corners.
